A new out of town LOROS store, showroom and donation centre is opening this month in Wigston Magna.

With an official VIP launch scheduled for February, the store, at 56 Pullman Road will be the biggest of the 29 LOROS county stores to date.

The former Parkside Tiles premises has been let to the charity by Leicestershire commercial property specialist Andrew and Ashwell.

The single storey, triple-bay warehouse and showroom site was previously sold by Andrew and Ashwell - which is based in London Road, Leicester - to a property investment company.

The Groby Road hospice charity has helped thousands of Leicestershire and Rutland families receive dedicated, specialist care over the past 35 years.

With 2,800 sq ft of shopping space, plus extensive storage, the new LOROS outlet will include a coffee bar and cookshop, as well as furniture and clothing for sale, allowing customers to park up, drop off goods and browse the store.

In recent weeks the premises have been refurbished.

Andrew and Ashwell consultant Geoff Gibson said: "LOROS was looking for a suitable, out of town property to rent, with storage and parking on site, so when this property came up we approached the new owner, who was happy to go ahead.

"We were able to arrange the lease without it going to market, alongside surveyor Micheil Gibson, acting for LOROS.

"We wish the charity every success in this important new venture.”

Jonathan Capewell, LOROS head of retail, said he was delighted with plans for the launch of the charity’s first "superstore".

He said: "This is a very exciting development for us, as we had been searching for larger, out of town premises that would be convenient both for shopping and donations.

"High street shopping, with limited parking, can sometimes be difficult, especially if you have heavy bags to drop off and the new Wigston store will make it all so much easier.

"As new shops open, we will, of course, need more donations to stock them and we look forward to receiving as many unwanted home and clothing items as people are able to give."
