Come one, come all, it’s the circus and carnival Twilight Walk this year for LOROS. Last year nearly 2,000 people took part, and this time round we’re hoping at least 2,500 will take part to match the amount of patients treated. Will you be one of them?

Each year, LOROS Hospice treats 2,500 patients, offering free, compassionate care and support to terminally ill patients, their family and carers.

This year’s circus and carnival theme is set to be an extravagant event, enticing women from across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to come dressed up in their best carnival costumes.

Cross our palms with silver and dress up as a fortune teller or perhaps you could turn that frown upside down and walk the 10k route around Leicester dressed up as a clown, the choice is yours.

Last year, the annual event raised an almighty £90,000, enough to cover the cost of 3600 hours of care for our inpatients.

LOROS Fundraising Co-ordinator Laura Fitzsawyer said: “It’s one of our most popular events, and this year is going to be huge. Every year, women from across the city and county always dazzle us with their magnificent costumes; I’m excited to see their ingenious outfits this time round. “

As part of the circus and carnival theme, stage performances and circus acts will be entertaining crowds on the day.

“This year we’re welcoming Mr Twister who will be showcasing his circus skills and encouraging people to get on stage to take part in carnival games,” added Laura. “Carnival acts, singers and musical performances will really add to the party theme, with ‘Festi-glow’ joining us again this year to add a bit of carnival sparkle.” The Twilight Walk takes place on Saturday 14th April, starting and finishing at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium.

Multi-coloured balloons will be given out at the end to release in remembrance of a loved one.

On completion of the walk, carnival-goers can treat themselves to a glass of bubbles from ‘Hello Prosecco’ or if they’re feeling peckish, burgers, pizza, hotdogs and crepes will be available.

The event will see the return of The Hundred Heroes Club, after it made a hugely successful debut last year.

Participants of The Hundred Heroes Club pledge to raise £100 for LOROS through sponsorship and in return get a specially designed t-shirt and VIP treatment at the event. To sign-up, tickets are just £12, search: LOROS Twilight Walk or call (0116) 231 8431
