LOROS Hospice Patron Alan Birchenall (Birch) MBE planted a Forget Me Not flower at the Leicester City Remembrance Garden as part of the LOROS Hospice Forget Me Not flower appeal.

Birch, the Leicester City Football Club (LCFC) Ambassador has been a supporter of the Hospice for many years and was officially made a Patron of LOROS in 2009.

“It’s been an honour to plant a flower at the remembrance garden at the King Power Stadium, it has also been an honour to be a Patron of LOROS Hospice, which I have been for a few years now. They do an amazing job.”

Birch planted a flower in the garden as a mark of respect for those who have died and to support the campaign which hopes to raise £35,000 for the charity.

“For £25, you get a flower and it enables this fantastic organisation to carry on helping the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

“Let’s keep LOROS going for as long as we can.”

Leicester City’s Garden of Remembrance allows fans, family and friends to scatter the ashes of their loved ones as well as the option to have a plaque installed in remembrance at the site at the King Power Stadium.

Andrew Ward Events Lead said: “The flower planting was a lovely tribute to those that have died, and a reminder that loved ones will never be forgotten.

“Birch has given the Hospice so much of his time and effort, which we are really thankful for.”

The display of tailor-made flowers in Leicester’s Jubilee Square runs until 8th July, with each flower symbolising the lives of loved ones who are no longer with us.

The handcrafted wrought-iron Forget Me Not’s cost £25 each, which could cover the cost of an hour of care at the Hospice.

Each flower has been made by The British Ironwork Centre, Oswestry, and measures 17cm in diameter and fits onto a 43cm iron pole.

The flowers can be purchased online on the LOROS website or during this week at the display.

The Forget Me Not flower appeal has been kindly sponsored by Uptonsteel.
