A massive thank you to the organisers and supporters of 'Swing into Remembrance' which took place at Longcliffe Golf Course, Loughborough on 10th November 2017.

The event was attended by just over 200 guests, most of whom wore period costumes from the 1940’s and raised over £5,000 for LOROS.

The DJ, Dave Dawes, had travelled up from High Wycombe with all his equipment to ensure there was non-stop music between the acts.

James Green did 60 minutes of a note perfect playlist prior to a demo of 1940’s dancing in which people were soon involved!

The final act was Madeline Brown who recently lost her uncle to cancer and had witnessed first hand, the excellent work that LOROS does.

Madeline soon had everyone singing and dancing to all the war time favourites before Dave played out the rest of the evening.

The organiser of the event, Lee Barrett, said: "The feedback from everyone was so good we have already put plans in place for Swing into Remembrance 2018 at a bigger venue with a bigger dance floor.

"Forty raffle prizes were donated from local people and business including Burleigh Gin and Aldeburgh Coastal Cottages to name just two - we are very grateful for their wonderful support.

"The whole evening  was a very fitting tribute to my father and also to the fine work that LOROS does."

Debbie Dickman, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS added: "We are delighted that the event went so well for Lee and everyone who helped him to arrange such a successful event.

The £5123.75  they raised could pay for the cost of one of our specialist nurses for more than seven weeks and is an incredible achievement.  Your really do make a difference - thank you!"
