Almost 400 runners make it to the top of St George’s Tower for LOROS

Despite the very windy conditions almost four hundred runners and walkers from all over the UK turned out to take on the tower at Leicester’s St. George’s Tower on Saturday 9th March.

With two competitors travelling all the way over from Germany for the event the competition at the top end was very close! Liverpool’s Mark Sims took a narrow victory in just one minute and thirty-one seconds, whilst Sarah Frost from London set a new record of one minute forty-three seconds in the women’s category.

Some very notable mentions must go to the 20-30 strong teams from both SWEATBOX and ActiveLifestyle-TJ, as well as those dressing up including Susannah and Gavin’s wedding party and some very impressive Batman and Spiderman outfits from youngsters Archie and Oscar. Santa Claus even showed up!

A huge well done to everyone who took part as well as a massive thank you to all of the volunteers that made the event possible. The event was broadcast live on BBC Radio Leicester, as well as featured briefly on ITV news over the weekend.
