A massive thank you to friends Callum and Dan, along with siblings Adam, Emily and Katie, who recently completed a very wet & windy Rothley 10k and raised more than £1,000 for LOROS in memory of Callum's Dad, Malcolm.
Callum's girlfriend, Emily said: "We chose LOROS because they helped provide amazing palliative care for Malcolm before he sadly passed away five years ago. The whole family were so pleased with the care he received that they have been raising money for the Hospice ever since.
"The weather wasn’t on our side, it was chucking it down with rain, and we were drenched through to the bone. Shivering and soaked we crossed the finish line; it was a challenge but seeing how much money we raised made it all worthwhile. "The run itself was difficult but rewarding and we all enjoyed the buzz we felt after finishing the race - I'm sure our lucky mascot, Harvey helped along the way!
"Although 10K isn’t a marathon, it felt like it to us, who have never run any sort of long-distance race before, making it all the more challenging and hence rewarding."
Tom Price, Challenge Events Co-ordinator at LOROS added: "I was at the Rothley 10k and can fully appreciate how severe the weather was for the runners.
"We would like to thank Callum, Dan, Adam, Emily and Katie for their commitment and wonderful contribution to the Hospice. As an example, the money they raised could pay for the cost of one of our specialist nurses for 10 days and is greatly appreciated.
