A team of 26 willing or volunteered Druck employees successfully completed the Leicester to Skegness bike ride and raised a staggering £7,000 for the Hospice.

The team members were: Ian Abbott, Karl Beileit, Kevin Borley, Karen Brierley, Francis DeCort, Helene Doggett, Bryan Edwards, Russell Farmer, Ben Field, Neil Gagin, Dean Goode, Colin Guttridge, Tony Hammond, Luke Hopewell, Nick Johnson, Emma Mason,  Steve Mitchell, Jo Rowe, Charlie Rushby, Dany San, Sanjiv Shah, Jason Swingler, Thomas Wilson, Charlie Worthington, Dave Worthington, Will Varnham.  Supported by Alan Bontoft and Alan Simms.

Karen Brierley of Druck said: "Many of the team had only started cycling seriously for this event and training started slowing with the poor spring weather.  However, it didn’t stop us spending as new essential equipment was purchased!

"Several training rides later and we were managing 50+ miles with the obligatory café stops. Fundraising commenced with samosa sales, generous donations from our contractors, Groby employees and individual fundraising.

"Specially designed jerseys were ordered, funded by our Marketing Team to promote the new Druck logo and our support of LOROS and a support vehicle and transport for cycles and people was booked, funded by our Facilities and HSETeams.

"We set off just after 6am and all our cyclists made it successfully to Skegness before 2pm, an amazing achievement by everyone and proof of the dedication by all.  The fantastic welcome at Skegness Clock Tower made for a quite emotional finish.

"Many positive comments were received from our cyclists praising the great organisation by LOROS and the fantastic volunteers helping make the event possible - here is just one of them.

“This is the first time I’ve done anything like this in terms of event charity fundraising and being part of a group with the same determination and commitment. It was great fun & I got a great sense of satisfaction when I got into Skegness. What I would say is when things got tough or when I questioned what I was doing, I thought of why I was doing this which drove me through those moments. Thank you all for donating, I appreciate it, but LOROS will appreciate the donations much, much more - BEN.”

"We were very happy to welcome our LOROS visitors - Magda, our corporate contact and Debbie, who is the main organiser of the event to receive our donation"

Debbie added: "Thank you to all the cyclists, volunteers, supporters, friends, family and Druck for helping raise £7,000 for LOROS.  This is a significant amount and could pay for the annual cost of us providing care on our ward for one of our patients.
