Have you had a chance to get around the city and spot our beautiful Elephants? We would love to see any pictures of your favourite ones! Here’s one of ours - Elenaut!
If you’re out in town, don’t forget to pop into our This + That shop. Why not visit and browse our merchandise whilst finding out more about how your support helps LOROS. LOROS really needs your help right now, purchasing some merchandise would be great but never underestimate the power of sharing with family and friends, we have some lovely items in the shop for all ages!
If you’ve not had a chance to see all the beautiful Elephants yet, you can book tickets to see them all at the Elephant’ Big Day Out!
Taking place on 4th and 5th October, this is your last chance to see the entire herd of 40 giant Elephants 82 Baby Elephants from the Stomp Round Leicester trail—all gathered together in one place before they head off to their new forever homes.
This weekend signals the end of an elephantastic summer of art, community, and colour—and what better way to celebrate than by saying goodbye to the herd together?
The Coalville shop is one of our popular sale outlets. It is located in the Belvoir Shopping Precinct, next door to one of our children’s shops. At the shop we offer a fabulous selection of clothing, with most items at £1! There is also a good range of books, DVDs and bric-a-brac. Grab yourself an excellent bargain and by doing so you’ll be supporting LOROS.
Our shops are all run by shop managers but could not operate without our vast network of volunteers and by the generous support of the local community.
We are calling out for volunteers in Coalville, so if you live in the area and know of people who may be thinking of volunteering please direct them to our shop!
The raffle closes on 21st September, so we have less than a month to try and raise as much money as possible!
Currently we are at £58,000 income but with a final push this last few weeks, we could raise SO MUCH more!
You can collect tickets from the Fundraising office or email lottery@loros.co.uk to request some. Do you know of a location or event that tickets could be sold at? Are you part of a group or club where you could sell some tickets? Please let us know!
Tickets are £1 each or £5 for a book, Please bring cash if you are collecting these from the Hospice!
Please keep sharing on social media, keep asking, keep reminding your friends and family
We receive many requests throughout the year to attend events happening locally in Leicestershire. Sometimes setting up a table with a display at a community event or show, talking to people about the services we provide or just being there in our LOROS t-shirts help to promote the Hospice. This presence may trigger supporters to make a donation because they remember the support we provided to a loved one. We would love you to come forward to help us attend these events and be the face of LOROS.
More information about the recent requests we’ve had to attend events are listed below in our volunteering opportunities section.
A big thank you to all the volunteers that have responded to our desperate pleas for help at events or forwarded on to friends and family.
Chris was recently a patient on our inpatient ward and shared his love for Leicester Tigers to our staff. Chris is now staying at home so Volunteer Ward Companion, Pete, and Health Care Assistant, Tia, surprised Chris with something just wonderful.
Leicester Tigers player, Dan Cole, very kindly recorded a video for Chris and the team provided a signed top as a gift. Pete and Tia decided to hand deliver this to his home!
Chris is no stranger to generosity himself after donating multiple items to our inpatient ward for other patients to enjoy including activities such as colouring books and sudokus and toiletries for others to benefit from. This gift was a lovely surprise for him.
A huge thank you to Leicester Tigers for generously providing a video and signed top for Chris, he was absolutely delighted. Also a huge thank you to Pete and Tia for your kindness.
There are so many of you that don’t realise the difference you make- no one is ever ‘just’ a volunteer. Whether you are based in the Hospice, one of our shops or have helped out at an event, your time is precious and you form part of the kindness that flows into the care and support our patients and their families receive.
We would love to hear more about what you do and if you are fairly new to the charity, what motivated you to join LOROS. Tell us your story!
We’ve seen many changes to LOROS in recent months and it’s no secret that the charity is still in need of financial support. Many of you have asked for an opportunity to ask questions and find out more information. Our Senior Leadership Team will always try to meet with you individually to answer any questions you have. Our interim CEO, Camilla Barrow, would like to re-open discussions and wider engagement with our volunters and we have the possibility of two dates for you to book on to our Q&A sessions:
Thursday 16th October 10am to 11am
Tuesday 21st October 2pm to 3pm
Please contact Rebecca Stevens at RebeccaStevens@loros.co.uk to book onto the session of your choice.
We are so pleased to share that Gemma Jeffs, our Volunteer Team Leader, has given birth to a baby boy, Hazel Edward Jeffs, born on 22nd August 2025. Congratulations to Gemma!
