About 100 people took part in a farewell event on Saturday night at the Oadby Golf Course clubhouse off Leicester Road.

They also raised cash for LOROS hospice and cancer charity MacMillan by auctioning items from the club.

Founder member Pat Port, 75, said: "I had a tear in my eye – it's the end of an era.

"We had to get rid of all the stuff in the clubhouse and from the course so people were bidding on absolutely everything, from the flags on the greens to the snooker table, which went for £70 in the end.
