Leicestershire have pledged support for Leicester City's Foxes Foundation One in a Million campaign and the club will host all 10 of the benefiting Leicestershire charities at its CB40 game against Essex on Bank Holiday Monday, May 7.

The One in Million campaign is designed to raise £150,000 this year to help push Birchenall's total raised for charity during the past 30 years past the £1million mark.

Birchenall will ring the bell to start the day's play and will then join Leicestershire ambassador Paul Nixon for a special question-and-answer session during the interval.

There will be a bucket collection to support the appeal and all the charities will be able to distribute their literature.

In addition, each of the 10 charities will receive a signed player's shirt from the game for the charity to use in future fund-raising.

"I'm delighted that Leicestershire County Cricket Club is helping us as we approach the final stages of this appeal," said the Birch, who is getting ready for his 32nd annual charity run later this month.

"I hope that lots of Leicester City fans will come down to Grace Road to watch the cricket and support the appeal."

City season-ticket holders can purchase tickets in advance for the special price of £10 by calling 0871 282 1879, quoting LCFC and their season-ticket client reference number.

The game starts at 1.45pm and is free for County members.

Non-members will pay £13 in advance and £15 on the gate, while under-16s can gain entry for only £1 either in advance or on the day.

"We are delighted to assist Alan Birchenall and Leicester City Football Club in raising funds for the One in a Million campaign," said County chief executive Mike Siddall.

The 10 charities are LOROS, Age UK, Leicestershire & Rutland, Leicester Children's Hospital, Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance, PROSTaid, Rainbows, Royal Anglian Regiment Benevolent Fund (Lord Mayor's Appeal), The Harley Staples Cancer Trust, VISTA and Wishes 4 Kids.
