Staff at the Leicestershire & Rutland Hospice have challenged one another to demonstrate their cooking skills by arranging the LOROS Cake Bake-Off on May 18th.

Tony Edwards and Ken Bools have challenged all LOROS staff members and volunteers at the Hospice on Groby Road to enter their culinary creations in two categories small or large cakes.

The categories will be judged by two local professional chefs with the overall winner of the Best Cake of the Day receiving a three course meal, with wine, for two people donated by Entropy Restaurant on Hinckley Road, Leicester.

All cakes entered will then be sold to visitors at the “Colour of Ribbons” event being held at the Hospice on Sunday May 20th. Visitors will have the chance to see the newly installed Garden of Light and Reflection and, in exchange for a donation, will be able to tie a coloured ribbon onto a designated area of the garden in memory of a family member, friend or colleague.

Ribbons will be available in different colours to suit the person being remembered and there will be three time allocations available on the day; 10.30am, 12 noon and 1.30pm. Prior arrangements and a booking form is available on request from the hospice.

Please note that limited parking will be available at the Hospice and access to the Chapel/Prayer Room will also be possible.

All funds raised from both events will be for the benefit of LOROS Hospice, a local charity providing free palliative care to over 2,500 terminally-ill patients and their families every year.
