Despite heavy rain prior to the LOROS Golf Day, the event was yet again a great success raising £9,800 for LOROS; the Leicestershire & Rutland Hospice.

The day was sold out well before the event date of 4th May 2012. Twenty two teams participated in a shotgun start at the prestigious Rothley Park Golf Club.

Diane Morris, Fundraising Manager for LOROS said, “I am so grateful to all the players for participating in what was a very enjoyable day. Rothley Park Golf Club did a fantastic job in enabling the event to take place as torrential rain the evening before almost “stopped play”!

The generosity of the sponsors ensured an amazing profit of £9,800 to help fund care for our terminally-ill patients and support for their families.

LCM Wealth Management sponsored the event; Spire Healthcare the Lunch; Athena Care the Dinner and Mosdorfer CCL the Hospitality. Next provided the team prizes and Sam Spillane, of S J Events, & Danny Spillane of Golf Retails Limited the individual prizes. KPMG, Berkley Insurance Group, Banner Batteries and Sygnet Signs all sponsored tees. SJ Events supported the event. I am so grateful to all these companies for their very generous support and also those who provided raffle and auction items.

We had international players travelling from Thailand and Austria to compete in what has become an established and highly regarded Charity Golf Day. The winning team was Weightmans Solicitors; second place went to Throgmorton Associates and Office Friendly Nomads came third. The Ladies’ ‘Nearest the Pin’ was won by Anne Coupland, Mens’ by Nish Bathia, the Ladies’ ‘Longest Drive’ was by Roisin Mason and the Mens’ by Robin Parker. Congratulations to all the winners.”

Companies and individuals can book their places for next year’s event which will be held on Friday 3rd May 2013, again at Rothley Park Golf Club, by ringing LOROS on 0116 231 8431 or emailing fundraising@loros.co.uk. The price has been held at £350 for a team of four to include lunch and dinner. For sponsorship opportunities please contact Diane Morris. Please book early to avoid disappointment as many companies were unable to compete at this year’s event.
