Lorrie Forman and Penny Mattock organised the event in Husbands Bosworth recently, which saw about 30 cars washed during the course of the day.

A total of £283 was raised toward their week-long walk along the ancient Roman fortification in aid of the charity.

Built in the first century, the wall runs from Wallsend-on-Tyne in the east to Bowness on the Solway Firth in the west.

The pair are embarking on a trek along the 84-mile National Trail which runs along its path with Stephanie Sharpe, of Blaston, and a team of nine others on Saturday, May 19.

Mrs Forman said: “We’ve been fundraising for LOROS for years. We did a coast-to-coast walk in 2009.

“I’ve been to Hadrian’s Wall before but never walked along it so we’re really looking forward to it.”

To sponsor the group, phone Mrs Forman on 01858 880281.
