Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration Party in the Park

Parish Council’s and local Hospice are to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with music in the Park this summer.

The council’s of Peckleton, Desford, Newbold Verdon, and Barwell are joining forces with LOROS Hospice to stage a musical extravaganza at Mallory Park Race Track. The preparations are underway for the Diamond Jubilee Celebration at Mallory Park, Kikby Mallory on Monday the 4th June.

Essentially the whole evening will be a celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and will be a family event for the whole community, the young, the old and the in-between.

There will be a modest entrance fee for charity £5 per adult, £3 per child, advanced family tickets £15 (2adults + 3Children).

LOROS Fundraiser, Christian Weikert-Picker said: “This Party in the Park evening, is being organised with the assistance of Peckleton, Desford, Newbold Verdon, and Barwell Parish Councils. We are very grateful to John Ward, Manager of the Mallory Motorsport Ltd, who has allowed us to use the Track facilities for the evening, free of charge. It promises to be a real community event with all proceeds going to LOROS Hospice.”

“Discount tickets will be available on the internet and on sale on the day at the entrance from 3:30pm onwards, which will allow enthusiasts to see the final races in the motor car racing event taking place on that day.

“The main entertainment will start at 6.30pm and include bands, singers, tribute acts and DJ’s will perform on two separate stages, which will be active all evening. There will be a fair with all the usual stalls, games and rides for the children. Activities and competitions will take place on the motor track itself, involving cycling, roller skating, scooting etc. and the use of other non-motorised vehicles taken in by residents. Different age groups will use the track at different times.”

Vic Rollins, Peckleton Parish Council Added “We are pleased that the Charnwood Symphony Concert Band will provide appropriate music including “Land of Hope and Glory”, later in the evening, followed by the lighting of a bonfire and the gas beacon at the appointed time, approximately 10.15 pm. There will be a fireworks display immediately afterwards at around 10.30pm.

“Food and drink and numerous types of goods including arts and crafts will be on sale from stalls all evening.”
