A dog-lover who raised £532 for LOROS through a sponsored walk has been thanked by the charity.

Jane Thorpe was one of hundreds of people who took part in the Paws 4 a Cause walk in Abbey Park, Leicester, in March.

The 55-year-old, from Syston, did the walk in memory of her cousin Angela, who died in August 2009, after staying at the hospice.

LOROS presented her with a hamper full of treats for her miniature schnauzers, Doogie and Zakk.

Jane said: "At first I thought I might get a few hundred pounds from friends and people at work, but then my employer, HCC International Insurance, in Rearsby, gave me a really big donation.

"Angela got so much from LOROS and they have such amazing staff and it is such a lovely, bright place that I thought I could do a little bit to help, that would be nice."

A total of £10,718 was raised through the event.
