An annual charity fundraiser in memory of a Great Dalby woman who died of ovarian cancer will be held at Syston Rugby Club on Saturday (July 28).

The Burnhamfest family fun day and charity rugby match celebrates the life of Jackie Burnham who lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 2006.

Proceeds raised will go to Cancer Research UK, LOROS and the Ovarian Cancer Trust.

Organisers and supporters are hoping to top the £3,000 raised from last year’s event.

The rugby match kicks off at 1pm. There will also be a hog roast, bands and a disco. Entry will be by wristbands which can be bought for £5 each.
