The Great Glen Wheelbarrow Race has previously seen creative couples decorate their wheelbarrows as a Spitfire, a Flintstones car, a pirate ship and a ride fit for a beauty queen.

The event is taking place on Saturday in Great Glen and the races will start and finish on the recreational ground in Bindleys Lane.

To date, the event, which is now in its fourth year, has raised £9,000 for LOROS. This year organisers are expecting to top the £10,000 mark.

From midday there will be stalls and attractions on the recreational ground.

Former Leicester Tigers player and England rugby fullback Tim Stimpson is due to attend.

Participants should note that there are prizes for the best decorated wheelbarrow as well as prizes for the winners of the junior and adult races.

The junior race will start at 2.15pm and the adult race at 3.15pm.

More information along with entry forms can be found at www.greatglenwheelbarrowrace.co.uk.
