A hairdresser is to have her head shaved to raise money for Leicester hospice LOROS, which cared for her dying mother.

Karen Hussey, who runs Kalimo Hair, in Glen Parva, will lose her locks between 6.30 and 7pm on September 21.

The 43-year-old is to undergo the transformation at her salon in Needham Avenue.

Karen said: "LOROS looked after my mum, Shirley, so well that I wanted to try to give something back.

"The nurses were wonderful and mum could not have been in better hands."

Karen has already raised £850 from friends and relatives sponsoring her head shave, but she wants people to come along on the night to try to push the total past the £1,000 mark.
