PREPARE for a memorable performance - David Newman, Archdeacon of Loughborough, will recite the entire Gospel of Mark in Loughborough from memory for a charity challenge.

He will have also recited it the night before in Kirby Muxloe, and will repeat the feat of memory at St Helen’s in Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Leicester Cathedral later on September 29, and at St Mary’s in Hinckley on Sunday, September 30, all to support PROST Aid and LOROS. He said: “I’ve always been excited by the dramatic impact of Mark’s Gospel since ago. hearing it performed by Alec McGowan on the London stage over 30 years “However, learning it all is proving to be a big challenge.

“But I’m spurred on both by the prospect of creating a truly memorable experience for the audiences who come to listen, and raising lots of money for these excellent charities.”

Diane Morris, fundraising manager for LOROS said: “What David is doing for our two charities is fantastic, his challenge completely embraces the idea behind the Quest.

“Memorising an entire Gospel is a feat in itself, but to also perform it in front of five audiences over 48 hours completely raises the bar!”
