Ria Law was so touched by the care and support her grandmother received at the LOROS hospice she has decided to jump out of a plane to raise funds.
The 28-year-old, who lives in Glen Parva, says she cannot put into words how grateful she is to the charity for the way staff and volunteers looked after her grandmother, Iris Scriggins.
?Iris died at the Leicestershire hospice just before Christmas, 14 months after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer, aged 77. Ria said: "I thought LOROS was an amazing place, just absolutely beautiful. We were all made to feel so at home.
"It just never felt like a medical place, it was so comfortable and homely and the care from the nurses and everyone was just brilliant.
"My grandma was happy there."
Iris, who lived in Beaumont Leys, Leicester, first went into LOROS, off Groby Road, in Leicester, four months before she died.
She spent a few days there getting treatment before she was well enough to return home.
She was admitted again at the end of last year and spent almost three weeks at the hospice before she died on December 20.
"She knew she was going to die and she said that she wanted to die at LOROS," Ria said. "It was the best place for her.
"The staff were brilliant. They always explained everything that was going on, we knew exactly what was happening.
"I don't really know how I can thank them enough."
Ria said she had planned to do something to raise money for the charity before Iris passed away.
"I had planned to do the skydive while she was there at LOROS as they were just so amazing," she said.
"It's all in place and I'll be doing it at Langar Airfield on April 27. I'm also holding a coffee morning on March 23 to raise more funds.
"I've got £260 so far and I've got more to come in.
"I'm hoping to raise more than £500 in total.
"I just wanted to do something a bit different as a way of raising money. I'm nervous about it, but excited at the same time.
"I think my grandma would think I was a bit mad but she'd be proud of me because I'm doing it for such a good cause."
Ria said she wanted to thank everyone who has supported her so far.
"That includes Print Wizards, in Welford Road, as they have kindly printed a picture of my grandma on my T-shirt for free," she said.
