LOROS, the Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice is benefiting from a nationwide cricket ticket giveaway for Hospices, which is backed by backed by English international cricket player Alastair Cook, MBE.
Help the Hospices, the UK charity for hospice care, has been allocated 500 tickets for this summer’s Yorkshire Bank 40 (YB40) cricket matches. These will be donated to Hospices across the country by Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, as part of their long running partnership with Help the Hospices.
LOROS has been given 20 tickets for the Leicestershire Foxes versus Yorkshire match at Grace Road on Sunday 11th August 2013.
Alastair Cook has praised the giveaway in his role as an ambassador of Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, saying:
"I am delighted that hundreds of hospice patients, volunteers and supporters can look forward to a free live YB40 cricket match this summer thanks to the partnership between the Banks and Help the Hospices.
I hope the cricket tickets bring a great deal of joy to those who receive them, and that they enable Hospices to continue helping seriously ill people to live well."
LOROS will be able to use their coveted tickets to provide fun days out for patients and families, as thank you tokens for dedicated volunteers, or as raffle or auction prizes to bring in vital funds for the hospice.
Adrian Walker, Senior Fundraiser at LOROS said: “The continued support from the Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks is very much appreciated and we are hoping the match will be enjoyed everyone. LOROS rely on the generosity of companies, and organisations to provide the very best Hospice care for patients and their loved ones.
The cricket tickets are a fun and exciting way to continue to work as a team with the banks to help support the network of Hospices in our local communities.”
Earlier this year the ECB announced Yorkshire Bank as the new title sponsor of the domestic 40-over competition: the Yorkshire Bank 40.
The Yorkshire Bank 40 is one of three competitions making up the 2013 domestic season (LV= CountyChampionship and Friends Life t20 completing the line-up), and the only one with a final at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
Jacqui Atkinson, Community Affairs Manager at Yorkshire Banks said:
“Our employees raise millions of pounds for Hospice care, but it is also important to us to support hospices in other ways. The YB40 tickets are a way of giving hospice patients, volunteers and supporters quality time this summer.”
