11 students from around the county have come together to form the group Mi7 and given up 4 weeks of their Summer holiday to help out local charity LOROS and promote their upcoming event, Walk on the Wildside, as part of their NCS (National Citizen Service) Programme.
LOROS is the 7th biggest hospice in the UK and offers palliative care to over 2,500 terminally ill patients per year across the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland areas. Their care stretches to not only the patients alone; but to the families, carers and close friends whom are also affected by such tragic circumstances.
Walk on the Wildside is LOROS' annual sponsored countryside walk where eager fundraisers will set off from Cropston Visitors Centre near Bradgate Park on Sunday the 8th of September. The individuals within the group have all signed up to do the 7 mile walk rather than the 13 mile walk. 70 other people have signed up in less than a week, with even more opting to sign up via the online registration form, bringing Mi7 closer to their target of 200 sign ups!
For more information regarding the event and how to get involved visit Walk on the Wildside on Twitter @WOTWncs and on Facebook. If you would like to sponsor Mi7 for their participation in the 7 mile walk - this can be done online via JustGiving.
