More than 60 cars, from a 1925 Vauxhall to icons of the 60s and 70s, will take part in the Welland Valley Wander. They will set off from Foxton Locks at one minute intervals from 9.30am, with the 100-mile route finishing at Rockingham Castle.

Taking the theme of seeing Hidden Britain, the untimed run aims to introduce the participants to the region’s little-known tourist gems such as Rutland Water and the Welland viaduct.

Event founder Andrew Duerden said: "We have worked with the local tourist authorities to provide a taster for the area with the hope that visitors will come back and explore the region more fully in the future."

Entries have come from as far away as Devon, Wales and the South Coast and include a past Monte Carlo Rally winner.

The route includes a midday stop in Uppingham.
