Leicester Marathon 2013

Once again, thousands of runners took part in the Leicester full and half marathons which were held on Sunday 13th October.

Despite the inclement weather nearly all the runners crossed the finish line to receive their well earned medals.

Unfortunately, there was a technical failure with the chip timing system. Race director Christian Weikert-Picker explained that the rain had affected the adhesive which keeps the devices attached to the competitor's race numbers. He said: "We are doing everything possible to ensure that correct timings are published and we will certainly be looking into a much more robust system for 2014."

We would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who helped with the organisation before, during and after the event and to all the spectators who turned out in such a horrid day to cheer on the runners. We couldn't do it without you!
