The event will take place on Sunday 26th October, and will start from Victoria Park at 9.15am.

After the success of combining multiple running events in previous year, the 2014 event will provide opportunities for all ages and ability of runner. There will be a full 26.2 mile marathon as well as a half marathon, relay races and a fun run. The organisers want to encourage everybody to get involved as either a runner or spectator.

Last year, 2,500 runners took place in the city centre event, raising an estimated total of £70,000 for charities.

This year’s event will focus on raising as much money as possible for the race’s partners, so runners are being actively encouraged to participate as part of a charity team. Participating charity runners will be able to take part for free.

LOROS, St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice and Bamboozle Theatre Company are amongst the charities taking part and asking runners to raise money for their charity in return for a place. The charities will be hosting designated cheering points along the route where spectators supporting charity runners will congregate, giving runners that much needed boost during their run.

“We really appreciate the support of those giving up their time and raising money for the race’s charity partners,” comments LOROS Fundraiser Christian Weikert-Picker, “This year’s event is designed to get all sorts of people involved, raise awareness of the work of such important charities, and encourage people to get active and to get fundraising.”
