An Aladdin’s Cave was how Melton Mayor Marilyn Gordon described the town’s new LOROS charity shop when she officially opened it on Tuesday.

The event, in Market Place, was attended by the shop’s managers and its 12 volunteers and LOROS chief executive Simon Proffitt; there was also a special appearance from IBot.

Mr Proffitt said: “I’m extremely proud of the shop, we used to have a smaller LOROS shop in Windsor Street but thought that Melton deserved something bigger and better.

“This is now one of the biggest shops we run and it’s got lots to offer.”

The shop, which sells furniture and other homewares, clothes and bric-a-brac, is on the hunt for more volunteers. Visit the shop to find out more.
