A hospice has received more than £4,000 from building society members.

Savers at Hinckley & Rugby Building Society were offered the chance to donate to the building society's Hospice Affinity Account, which gives 1 per cent of their savings each year to three hospices in Leicester, Coventry and Nuneaton.

A total of £12,925 was raised last year and LOROS, in Groby Road, Leicester, will receive a £4,325 share.

Christian Weikert-Picker, a fundraiser at LOROS, said: "What is extra special is that the customers have chosen to support the hospices for the long-term. It shows how the community represented by the savers is firmly behind what the hospices achieve."

The two Warwickshire beneficiaries were The Myton Hospice and Mary Ann Evans Hospice.

The latest donation takes the total shared by the hospices to £48,000 since 2008.

Lee Banks-Moore, Hinckley & Rugby's branch manager at Upper Bond Street, Coalville, said: "It's thanks to our customers choosing to show their gratitude for the work the hospices do."
