Miniature train locomotive enthusiasts are holding a family fun day in memory of the late wife of a member.

The North West Leicestershire Model Engineering Society is hosting the event at Hermitage recreation ground, off Silver Street, Whitwick, on Sunday, from 10am to 4pm.

Attractions will include train rides, live entertainment, a raffle and stalls.

The day is being staged in memory of Kim Shillcock, a youth worker from Ibstock, who died from cancer last year at the age of 51.

Her husband, Paul, 52, helped organise a similar event last May, which raised £1,185 for Macmillan Cancer Support and the LOROS hospice, in Leicester.

This year, proceeds from the day will be shared between LOROS and Hospice Hope, a charity campaigning to improve palliative care in North West Leicestershire.
