Soul Relief, a new month long campaign to raise funds for LOROS, is being launched in the city this month, with support from stars such as comedian Richard Blackwood and Ronnie Herel formerly of BBC 1Xtra, now on Mi Soul radio.

The campaign, which takes place across June, includes numerous ‘soul’ themed events, featuring stars such as Jaki Graham and nights across the city, will culminate in a special fundraising Soul Night on 28th June at Bowstrings Bar on Braunstone Gate.

Organised by a collective of local businesses, Soul Relief aims to raise over £5,000 for LOROS during the 4 week awareness campaign. The businesses, which include 2Funky Arts, Femi Health & Beauty, Wildcat energy drinks and the Soul Heaven event, have all been touched by LOROS in one way or another.

Spokesperson for Soul Relief Nerys Moeketsi said, “We have all been greatly affected by cancer, either personally or through loved ones, and raising funds for LOROS seemed the perfect way to say thank you. We are all avid Soul fans so this way we combine our love for music with raising money for a great charity.”

Soul Relief will be encouraging people from all over the city to take ‘selfies’ wearing their branded sunglasses, which will be uploaded to Facebook and Twitter to raise awareness of the campaign.
