A spectacular sunset followed by a stunning firework display brought the curtain down on another successful Music in the Park concert on Saturday.

About 1,000 people braved the threat of torrential downpours to enjoy the UpBeatles, followed by Hathern Band, in the grounds of Wistow Hall.

Numbers were down on previous years because of the weather but organisers are delighted with the people who did attend.

The event, organised by the Rotary Club of Wigston, was supported by LOROS hospice. Adrian Walker, of LOROS, said:Alt text "The weather and the music were truly wonderful. There were some showers early in the day, but we had wonderful sunshine during the concert."

He said: "Money raised will go towards Rotary charities, LOROS and the Leicester-based Hope Against Cancer."
