We have exciting, new opportunities for people to volunteer in different roles in the Hospice and in the community and are holding a Volunteer Fair at the Hospice on Saturday 28th June 2014, 11am to 2pm.

If you are over 18, caring, compassionate and reliable and have a few hours to spare a week to help our patients we have roles that you might be interested in. We will provide training and ongoing support. If you are interested in finding out more please come along to our Volunteering Fair to find out about new volunteering vacancies in:

AdministrationWe are looking for volunteers to work in a varied role that provides opportunities to work in reception, administration and support roles across our administration teams.

Creative therapySupporting the creative therapy facilitator to help patients work using different methods such as art, photography, and memory boxes.

Special interest groupsDo you have an interest or hobby you would like to talk to patients about in Day Therapy?

Home visitingSupporting people with advanced illness and their carers at home.

Counselling and psychological supportThe Hospice is keen to offer a small number of placements for qualified counsellors working towards hours for accreditation or for students on post-diploma or post-graduate training requiring counselling.

Karen Reedman, current Day Therapy volunteer said: “I have been a volunteer for 15 months and I love it. I find the patients inspirational and it makes you realise what’s important in life. The atmosphere is very happy, which is probably the opposite of what people would think. I thoroughly recommend volunteering for LOROS.”

Benny Rossi, Head of Day Care and Community Services said: “We’re really looking forward to meeting those interested in volunteering on Saturday. It’s an exciting time for LOROS as these vital roles will support our team in providing more care, to more people, both at the Hospice and in patient’s homes. Our volunteers really do make a big difference to the lives of those living with a terminal illness.”
