About 250 guests attended the annual Colour of Ribbons event at LOROS.

Visitors had the chance to remember a family member, friend or a colleague by tying a ribbon on a tree.

It is the third year the event has run and this year it raised £4,000.

Vivienne Edwards, a LOROS volunteer, said: "I first heard of the Colour of Ribbons when Tony, my husband, who works for LOROS, ran a cake competition for staff and volunteers.

"They needed help serving them so I volunteered my time."

She added: "On the day of the event, it was not a sombre time.

"It was really pleasant and relaxed. The sun was shining and seeing all the ribbons on the tree was quite special.

"My children pinned a ribbon on a tree as Tony has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

"It shows that while people may have loved ones they wish to remember they can come and remember those who are still with us and struggling with illness."

Christian Weikert-Picker, fund-raiser for LOROS, said: "We were pleased with the event, it grows each year."
