LOROS representatives were busy this week visiting the winners of the LOROS Accumulator Challenge 2014

Our first meeting was with The Plant Man who were the winners of the ‘Most Innovative Idea’ award. The second one was with the British Gas Business Complains Team who won the award for ‘Most Money Raised’.

There were eight teams from British Gas who signed up in total for the Challenge, bringing in a fantastic total of £2,501. The winners really excelled themselves, raising more than half of this amount from their team alone. They ran a mixture of activities including a sweet shop, a raffle, an auction, samosa sales and a non-uniform day which allowed them to break the British Gas dress code by wearing sport t-shirts. They really pulled together as a team and worked hard during all three months.

Meanesh Soni, Customer Relations Executive at British Gas Complaints Team said, ”The Accumulator Challenge was an excellent opportunity to raise money for a very worthwhile cause. The participants showed great team spirit and everyone who got involved thoroughly enjoyed the fundraising. A special thanks to everyone who put their hands in their pockets and gave money for LOROS. The local businesses were very supportive. Special thanks go to Greggs Bakery, Walkers Crisps, Halfords, PLAY 360, Vue Cinema, Nando’s and with a big thank you to Barcelona Football Club for their signed pennant.”

Laura Betts, Partnership Development Executive at LOROS said, “It was a privilege to work alongside the British Gas Complaints Team. The figures are the result of their can-do attitude. It was fantastic to see how their fundraising ideas turned into real money, which will help us to raise the £4.5 million needed yearly to provide our services free of charge.”

The LOROS Accumulator Challenge 2014 had local businesses working to raise money from March to June. The idea of the challenge was very simple: teams were given £50 notes and they found ways to “grow” the money in any legal and ethical way they wanted. This year’s LOROS Accumulator Challenge was successfully completed by 20 teams who together raised an amazing £6,663.45 which goes towards patient care.

Next year’s edition of the Accumulator Challenge is on its way! British Gas have promised to take part again so if you would like to join them please contact LOROS Fundraising on 01162318431/2 or email them here
