Blaby District Council Chairman holds Garden Party for LOROS

Councillor David Clements, Chairman of Blaby District Council, has chosen to support LOROS and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance during his term in office.

On a sunny Saturday in July, Councillor Clements organised a Garden Party in aid of LOROS. It was the Chairman’s first Garden Party and we are proud that this event supported our charity. The guests enjoyed cream tea, local strawberries from Blaby and traditional British scones followed by an excellent jazz band.

During his welcome address Councillor Clements joked that he had more luck with the weather for his garden party than the Queen did.

The event was well attended and included councillors representing neighbouring councils. LOROS President Jennifer, Lady Gretton and LOROS Trustee Mr Peter Parsons represented the Hospice.

Mr Parsons said, “I enjoyed the event and it was excellent profile for LOROS with so many distinguished guests in attendance.”

Employees at Blaby District Council are now in the throes of organising a “Blaby Bake Off”. Staff are being invited to bring cakes which will be judged by the Chairman on Monday 29th September; the proceeds will be split between the two charities.

We can’t wait to see and taste the results!
