Brave Becky completes charity skydive

Becky Dawson recently did something that she had always wanted to do, but had never been brave enough to complete until now....

Attached to a skydiver, she threw herself out of a tiny plane, fell through the air reaching 120 miles per hour and then descended safely back to the ground, dangling from a large parachute. It was an exhilarating experience for her!

Why did she do this?

In October 2008, her friend, Beth Broughton, was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in September the following year, aged just 20.

During this upsetting time, LOROS Hospice provided care and support to Beth, her family and her friends. When Becky visited Beth at the hospice, she was overcome by how welcoming, caring and supportive the LOROS staff were, and since then she has always wanted to be able to give something back.

This gave Becky the courage she needed to do something special in memory of her friend Beth and to raise money for LOROS, helping them to continue doing the brilliant work they do.

Following the event Wendy Marshall, LOROS Fundraising Co-ordinator, said, "A fantastic job Becky, well done! You are so brave and I am glad the weather was good to you.

"The money you have raised will help LOROS continue to provide specialist care at our Hospice, in patient’s own homes, and in partnership working with our local hospitals and GPs. Thank you so much"
