M&S staff in a spin for LOROS

Throughout August the Leicester branch of M&S held various fundraising events in store to raise funds for LOROS. These activities included bag packing and spinning on a static exercise bike which was located at the entrance to the store on Humberstone Gate.

The LOROS volunteers got involved taking to the tills to pack customers’ shopping while the dedicated M&S staff took rides on the bike, and encouraged their customers to donate to LOROS.

Through these events M&S have so far managed to raise a fantastic £2,500, which is equivalent to the cost of three and a half weeks of specialist care provided by a fully qualified LOROS nurse. This is a great example of how M&S truly make a difference to their local community and to the 2,500 individuals that are cared for by LOROS each year.

Alex Gamble, Partnership Development Executive said: “We are very grateful that M&S decided to support LOROS and allowed us to be on site to raise awareness about our services. LOROS are looking forward to being back in store over the Christmas period to provide a bag packing service to their customers in return for a donation to LOROS. Bag packing is a fantastic fundraising activity and helps us to secure part of the £4.5 million pounds we need to raise annually.”
