Palmers MD Caroline Jackson and a number of staff members from Palmers Ullesthorpe recently achieved their ambition to complete a skydive. On Sunday 21st September they donned their LOROS t-shirts and took the plunge for the local hospice.

Caroline said; "Six people with varying degrees of nervousness arrived for the jump at 8.30am Sunday morning; nerves were not helped when we found out the previous 2 day's flights had been cancelled at the airport due to poor weather.

"After some waiting around due to the previous day's backlog, a brief ‘training’ session, a loud radio call when the manifests were issued and a few more nerves we made a 20 minute climb to 2.5 miles high(13000 feet) which was well above the clouds and -2 degrees. We were then faced with being pushed out of a small aeroplane, strapped to some lovely adrenaline-junkies - there was no chance of backing out since you couldn’t hear a thing once the doors opened. We all LOVED it. To free fall at 120 miles an hour for 40 seconds is something that’s hard to explain and one of those things you really must try. The noise was incredible and 40 seconds felt like 5. Then to travel in complete silence back down to earth, is one of the most memorable things most of us will ever do.

"It was a fabulous day enjoyed by all, and thanks to all the girls at Ullesthorpe, we’ve had the privilege of raising over £2000 for LOROS. And had a blast doing so!"

Magdalena Korytkowska, Partnership Development Assistant at LOROS said: "We are so proud and pleased that Palmers chose us as their Charity of the Year, they are doing a wonderful job. As an example, the money raised they from this fundraising event alone could pay for 20 Community Nurse Specialist visits or for 14 patients to attend Day Therapy.

"We are looking forward to our continued partnership and to see what they will be getting up to next. Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be equally as successful as all their previous events."
