Members of the public were invited to join in with Yorkshire Building Society’s 150th anniversary celebrations by nominating small charities and good causes in their community to receive a share of £150,000.

Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation made the donation available – £1,000 for every year the Society has been helping people save for their futures and buy their first homes – as part of its annual Make a Difference campaign.

All nominated charities were considered to receive a £100 share of the Charitable Foundation’s anniversary donation and LOROS were very lucky to be chosen as one of its recipients. Alex Gamble, Partnership Development Executive at LOROS, went along to accept a cheque from the local branch in Horsefair Street, Leicester.

Alex said: "We were delighted that LOROS was nominated for a £100 share of the Charitable Foundation’s anniversary donation and would like to thank the Yorkshire Building Society for selecting LOROS. We would also like to say thank you to the local community, who got behind us and secured enough votes for us to receive a donation.

"The £100 could pay for 20 patient meals for one day and, like all our donations, is greatly appreciated by everyone at LOROS".
