Fundraising success at Christmas Fair

Wow - what can we say!

The turn out for the Christmas Fair, held at the Agar Nook Community Centre on Saturday 22nd November 2014 was OUTSTANDING.

The fair, which was organised and painstakingly put together over several months, was the brainchild of Mrs Enid Freeman. Mrs Freeman had been determined to raise funds for her local Hospice, LOROS, after her son, Mr Kevin Fletcher, passed away there in 2013.

Sadly, Mrs Freeman died three weeks prior to the event, but her caring family and friends pulled together and carried out her wish to raise much needed funds for LOROS. It was Mrs Freeman's ambition to raise a minimum of £1,000 at the fair and, to everyone's astonishment, the final total was a fabulous £1925.72.

A spokesperson for the family said: "We were absolutely determined to make this event work in memory of both Kevin and his Mum, Mrs Fletcher. We are delighted with the response from everyone and would like to say a massive thank you to each and every person who attended the event and made it such a great success for us".

Adrian Walker, Senior Fundraiser at LOROS said: "This is an outstanding achievement and a great example of a community working together to show their respects and support a local charity at the same time.

"I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported those who took over the running of the event and were so determined to make it work. Every penny they have raised and the effort that that entailed is greatly appreciated by the Hospice. As an example, the money donated from this event could be used to pay for 13 patients to attend Day Therapy or for 20 Community Nurse Specialist visits to our patients at home. So, you see, you really do make a difference - Thank you!
