Staff, patients and volunteers at LOROS are celebrating their biggest raffle ever with ticket sales and donations amounting to more than £140,000!

The family of Bethan Spencer from Hinckley told the story of their experience of LOROS in support of the raffle and sold almost 500 raffle tickets themselves. Lottery Manager Liz Singleton says: "We are so grateful to all of our supporters, especially at this time of year. People have been so generous and we can’t thank them enough. I know from personal experience how wonderful LOROS is and it is so important for us to ensure that our services can continue for patients and their families in the future."

£11,000 was split between 8 lucky winners with the first prize winner choosing between a brand new Seat Ibiza or £10,000 cash. Alt text

Bethan’s husband Neil and children Megan and Lewis joined LOROS staff and Alan Birchenall at the King Power Stadium for the draw and were stunned that their story had helped to raise such an amazing sum of money for the hospice. Neil says: "When Bethan arrived at LOROS she text me to say that she was at the LOROS hotel! We all thought everyone was wonderful, they just seemed to understand. It was due to the care that Bethan received at the hospice that she was able to come home for her final Christmas with the family."

With £4.5 million to raise from voluntary contributions this year Lottery Manager Liz Singleton said: "Our raffles offer our supporters the chance to win some fantastic prizes but more importantly raise much needed funds for LOROS. We are very grateful to Neil, Megan and Lewis for telling their story and to our supporters for their generosity. I’d also like to thank our lottery office staff and volunteers who worked so hard to process the tickets in time for the draw."

We are already looking forward to launching our Spring 2015 raffle which will coincide with the LOROS 30th Anniversary and bring with it more opportunities to win some fabulous prizes for a fantastic local cause.
