Jason and Mark raise £1,000 for LOROS

Back in January 2014, Jason Wade and Mark Woolley decided to challenge themselves and raise much needed funds for LOROS. After some thought they devised their 12in12 challenge based around adventure races.

The 12 events, which ranged from a 20k mud and obstacle race, a dam buster duathlon to the Loughborough Santa fun run, were all designed to test their physical abilities - sometime to their absolute limit!

Between them they have ran, cycled and swam almost 1,500miles, burnt almost 400,000 calories and raised an extremely impressive £1,000 during their very testing year.

Jason said: "Whilst Mark and I had competed in some of the events before and knew what to expect, others were very challenging indeed! However, we managed to complete all of them and have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

"I would like to thank all our supporters who helped us raise money and team survival (Shahid, Lindsay, Shak, Jay, Paul & Joe,Ryan) for their invaluable assistance. And, last but not least, I would like to say a very special thank you to my long suffering wife, nurse Caz, for putting up with Mark and myself, for gluing us back together when we've needed it, and especially for our Sunday dinners!"

Adrian Walker, Senior Fundraiser at LOROS said: "When I found out what Jason and Mark were going to attempt, I was in awe of their self imposed challenge. I am absolutely delighted that they have successfully completed all 12 events. It was their ambition to raise as much as they could for LOROS and I am so pleased that they broke through the £1,000 barrier.

"Their contribution is very much appreciated and we are proud that 90% of charity donations are directed to care services. As an example, the money that Jason and Mark have raised could be used to pay for 10 nurse specialist visits to our patients at home or fund the running of 2 hospice beds for a full day. Equally, it could pay to run the Hospice for approximately 1¼ hours. Their donation really will make a difference!
