The students had another spectacular year of fundraising throughout 2013/14, culminating in over £3,000 being raised for LOROS.

Led by the Head of Mississippi House, Harvey Singh, students (and staff) took part in a variety of fundraising activities that included:

  • The annual performance of ‘Brookvale’s Got Talent!’

  • Bucket collections

  • Staff Christmas show

  • Year 9 sponsored walk to and around Bradgate Park

One of the Year 9 students, Tom Burbage, (who has now moved on to Year 10 at Groby College), raised a staggering amount of money, hence the decision to split the proceeds this year between the two charities - LOROS and Cancer Research.

Elaine Godber from LOROS (pictured in the red jacket) went to Broovale High School to receive the cheque from Headteacher, Katie Rush, and a selection of last year’s Year 9 students – now Year 10 at Groby College, along with current Year 9 House Captains.

Elaine said: "I am delighted to accept this cheque on behalf of LOROS and salute all the team who fundraised for LOROS and especially Tom Burbage who raised a staggering amount of money. Well done to everyone and thank you so much for continuing to support LOROS".
