On Friday 30th January LOROS and PROSTaid welcomed representatives from PKF Cooper Parry, PwC, Net Ready, LOROS and Howes Percival as well as ex-Tigers Player, George Chuter along to The National Space Centre for an afternoon of, what proved to be, extremely successful fundraising!
The participants battled head-to-head in a series of space related missions which included building and launching a rocket, directing a mars rover through an out-of-this world obstacle course, dodging aliens and craters to win points and finally a treasure hunt which led the fundraisers to the very top of the space centre tower! The winner of each mission was awarded £500 to add to the money they had already obtained through sponsorship.
The winner of the challenge was the participant who raised the most amount of money throughout the course of the afternoon.
Laura Betts, LOROS Fundraiser said; “I was blown away by the commitment and dedication shown by all of the challengers. In the space of an afternoon five local businessmen and a rugby player managed to raise over £11,000 which will be shared between LOROS and PROSTaid. It really goes to show how much we can achieve when we work collaboratively. It’s a fantastic effort by The Lost in Space team and they should all be extremely proud of the overall result”.
Tyrone Courtman from PKF Cooper Parry was the overall winner of the event managing to raise a fantastic £3310 with Paul Norbury from PwC coming in at a close second with £3025.
Rob Banner from PROSTaid said; This event certainly did bring out the competive streak in these business leaders. Laura and I had no idea how successful the event was going to be as the participants were keeping tight-lipped about how much sponsorship they had secured so as not to give the game away!
Lost in Space winner, Tyrone Courtman said; “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been involved in this challenge and delighted to have raised so much money for these two very worthy local charities. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved in making it a huge success”.
