On Saturday the 25th of April, participants will gather at the King Power Stadium to commence the 10k Twilight Walk, raising funds for LOROS Hospice as they go.

Each year, the unique event attracts and unites women from all over the East Midlands, the Twilight Walk event is a place for fun, a place where loved ones are freely remembered and celebrated, and a place where vital funds are raised for local LOROS Hospices.

Hailed as the “biggest girls night out in Leicester”, the theme for the event is Saints and Sinners.

Safety is paramount for the Twilight Walk, and marshals are essential to keep things running smoothly and safely. Only half of the required number of volunteers have signed up to marshal for the night, and LOROS are currently attempting to recruit many more in time for the walk.

If anyone is available from 5pm until 10pm on Saturday 25th of April, or knows someone who is available and interested, they should get in contact with LOROS via email at fundraising@loros.co.uk or call (0116) 2318484.

The money raised from this event will go towards supporting the work of LOROS, who enhance the quality of life of their terminally ill patients, and also provide support for their families. Most of the people being cared for at LOROS are terminally ill and many are cancer patients, have progressive neurological conditions, or are at the final stages of organ failure.

Admission to the Hospice is free, allowing them to help everyone, regardless of background. NHS awards LOROS a grant which makes up approximately a third of their expenses, leaving the Hospice to fundraise the remaining two-thirds in order to be able to provide their full range of services, costing £7.5 million each year.

Services include treating over 2,500 patients annually, providing a counselling service for patients and their families, medical outpatients clinics and a community nurse specialist team. As well as events like the Twilight Walk, LOROS raises its funds thanks to the support of the local community and businesses in order to raise these fundamental funds.
