Savers with deposits in Hinckley & Rugby Building Society's Hospice Affinity Account have generated a £16,350 donation for three hospices.

Nuneaton's Mary Ann Evans Hospice, The Myton Hospices and LOROS are each receiving £5,450. It's thanks to the donation by the society of a sum equivalent to one per cent of the average balancesheld in the account each year.

The latest donation takes the total shared by the hospices to £64,000 since the account's launch in 2008. The account also pays interest to the account's savers, who choose the account to help provide care and support to the terminally ill and their relatives. The minimum investment is £500 and the maximum investment is £300,000.

Christian Weikert-Picker, head of fundraising and marketing at Mary Ann Evans Hospice, said: "The donations really do add up, year on year. We thank those customers who have loyally kept saving in this account and welcome those who have joined in the past year."

The Myton Hospices Rachael Stevens said the support was 'greatly appreciated' while Diane Morris of LOROS said 'the account makes a tremendous difference'.

Hinckley & Rugby customer assistant Sophie Hancock said: "The credit must go to our savers who choose in their hundreds to put their money in the affinity account, knowing that doing so generates many thousands of pounds each year for such valued hospices."
