Thursday 29th January saw a great night in 'The Parlour' at Roots Farm Shop, where despite the snow falling at an alarming rate, 70 people who have tirelessly helped raise money for great causes, gathered to hand over some well deserved money to LOROS.

The 2002 Crew - a charity group formed in Barkby have been working for the last 12 years to raise money for different great causes which are close to the hearts of the Crew members.

This year, after losing loved ones who were cared for so well in LOROS and to celebrate our Great Aunt Rosemary Handley MBE having served 30 years volunteering for LOROS, we felt it more than appropriate to raise money for the cause.

As well as the Crew's annual Christmas Market, Roots decided to hold a Harvest Festival, celebrating all things food related, with music, welly decorating and the odd tipple to be tasted. After the success of this and a Christmas Market that saw more children see Santa than ever before, the fundraising elves sat back for a well deserved rest to count the money. We did so well we thought it deserved a night of celebration with drinks and nibbles to hand over £3,300 to help change the lives of many.

As part of the evening the 2002 crew ran through all the other events they had run and money they had made -which is a staggering £16,113 over the last 12 years - not bad for a group of people who love a good party and have made money for good causes in the process.

Although all this good work is very commendable, there is no rest on the farm as it was announced that during 2015 our money making efforts will be aimed towards Alzheimer's Research, so roll on the parties and money making.
