Rugby legend Martin Johnson will be joining forces with his old teammate and fellow sport star Matt Poole to raise money for LOROS Hospice.
The former Leicester Tigers and England player will be hosting ‘An Evening with Martin Johnson’, at The Mercure Hotel, in Leicester, to bring in cash for the local charity, of which he is a Patron.
Compered by fellow former Tiger Matt Poole, the night is sure to kick-start what will be an exciting few months for the sport of rugby, with the World Cup taking place later this year.
LOROS Ambassador Matt Poole said: “It’s been many years since Johnno and I played together but it’s always an honour to be alongside him.
“We’re both looking forward to what we hope will be an extremely successful fundraiser for LOROS.”
During the evening, Martin Johnson, who captained England to victory in the World Cup in 2003, will reflect on his own memories of representing the nation in World Cup matches. He will also discuss how he thinks the country may fare in this year’s tournament, before members of the audience will then be given the opportunity to ask Martin their own questions.
The evening includes a four course meal with an arrival drink, as well as a raffle and auction.
Laura Betts, LOROS Fundraiser and Event Organiser said: “We feel so privileged to be able to host this event in the run up to the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
“Not only are Martin and Matt hugely respected sportsmen, but they are both Leicester Legends and both dedicated supporters, and representatives of LOROS.
“It’s a great event for a great cause. We hope that the event will raise in the region of £10,000 which could pay for a fully trained LOROS nurse for over 3 months.”
‘An Evening with Martin Johnson’ is just one of the fantastic events LOROS are hosting as part of their 30th Anniversary Celebrations.
The event will take place at The Mercure Hotel, in Leicester, on Wednesday, May 20 at 7pm.
Tickets cost £50 per person or £500 for a table of 10.
