The first month of the LOROS Accumulator Challenge 2015 has already passed. Twenty one teams from local businesses and organisations have been doing an incredible job for the LOROS patients and their families, “growing” the £50 notes provided to them on 18th March.

Together the participants have managed to turn their £50s to more than £3300 to date, which could pay for a nurse providing the specialist care to the inpatients at LOROS for nearly 5 weeks. They have the next two months to add much more to their totals. Alt text

Magdalena Korytkowska, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS said: “I would like to thank the teams for everything they have achieved so far and I look forward to seeing all of their marvellous plans come true! They are competing for awards but, the first of all, they secure funds to enable LOROS to provide free of charge services to our patients and their families.

The teams taking part in this year’s challenge are from: British Gas Services, Caterpillar UK Limited, Coventry Building Society, Freedom Care, Gateley, HRG Leicester Office, Lime Tree Day Nursery, Madani Schools Federation, Markfield and Anstey Slimmers, Palmers, Spearing Waite LLP, The Taylor Bloxham Group and 33rd/65th Leicester Scout Troop.

During the last month they raised funds by organising raffles, cake sales, coffee mornings, pop-up shops, 50/50 grand national sweepstakes and a few of personal challenges. Their future plans include a “Pie Your Leadership Team” event, fashion shows, a wheelbarrow race, a sponsored bike ride at Beaumont Shopping Centre, a Gary Barlow Tribute Night and much, much more.

Kat Kinch, Director of Freedom Care said: "We have grown our £50 to £428 to date and that is just the start; we have some fantastic, exciting and unique ideas coming up!"
