Specialist provider of payments hardware and services, Secure Retail, has named the Leicestershire and Rutland based hospice, LOROS, as its official charity. Undertaking a series of fundraising activities, Secure Retail employees are aiming to raise £2,000 for the Leicestershire based charity in 2015, with all funds raised being matched by the company.

LOROS, which has been providing care to residents across Leicestershire for over 30 years, now cares for over 2,500 patients throughout the county each year. Providing free compassionate care, the hospice’s 320 staff and 1,000 volunteers support terminally ill patients, their families and carers. Offering both inpatient and respite day care at its Leicester-based hospice, LOROS carers also serve the surrounding community, providing at-home support for patients.

Employees across Secure Retail’s point of sale and taxi payment divisions are aiming to raise in excess of £2,000 through a series of fundraising events, including sponsored dog walks, charity fun runs and bake-offs. £2,000 could enable a LOROS community nurse specialist to make 20 visits to terminally ill patients in their homes across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Commenting on the announcement, Carl Barton, Managing Director of Secure Retail, said: “Not only is LOROS a local charity to us, but many of our employees have experienced first-hand and so know the value the hospice provides - not just in terms of care to patients, but also the support it offers to patients’ friends and family as well as the wider Leicestershire community.“

Laura Betts from LOROS also commented: “Since meeting with Carl, Rachel and Clare, it was clear to see that they were extremely eager and indeed excited to begin our partnership which is fantastic. Their enthusiasm has obviously been infectious as the team have fully supported the Donation Station campaign. Secure Retails support will make such a difference to LOROS. Almost 10,000 individual items are sold in our shops each week and so it is imperative that our shops are kept fully stocked with good quality items. I am really looking forward to seeing how the team at Secure Retail will embrace the Accumulator Challenge – watch this space!“
