LOROS Hospice is pleased to announce the opening of its brand new Reuse Shop.
The store, which stems from a partnership between the Leicestershire charity and Leicester City Council, can be found in Gypsum Close, Leicester and is the perfect place for those pre-loved items which are just too good to tip.
Taking anything from furniture to un-used electric items, the shop will stock everything and anything, as long as they are still in good working order.
Shop Manager Sophie Muir said: “I’m extremely happy that we have opened the doors of our brand new Reuse Shop.
“We’ve got such a great location, being directly on the recycling centre site, giving people the opportunity to support a local charity by giving us any of their unwanted items rather than tipping them.”
The shop got off to a brilliant start on Thursday, making nearly £300 in their first two hours.
“We’ve got off to a flying start, it’s fantastic,” added Sophie. “People have been constantly popping in since we opened, either donating items or picking up a bargain themselves.”
Cllr Lynn Senior, assistant city Mayor and executive lead for neighbourhood services, said she was pleased that the shop had got off to such a good start.
“I’m really proud that we have LOROS on-board at our new recycling centre. The Reuse Shop is a great way for people to support this fantastic local charity,” she said.
“This is the first time we’ve offered a reuse shop at our recycling centres, and it’s a great way of reducing household waste. If that helps support the works of LOROS, then I think that’s wonderful.
“I am pleased that the shop has got off to such a good start. I am sure that it will continue to be a huge hit with people using the new recycling centre.”
The shop opening times are: Summer hours (April to October) Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm Saturday and Sunday, 8.30am-6pm
Winter hours (November to March) Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm Saturday & Sunday, 8.30am- 4.30pm
